Religion
Religion was deeply rooted within Connecticut's social and political structure. There was a small Jewish population but the majority of the colony were Christians and more specifically they were Puritans. Church was always something that was done in the New England colonies, after the American Revolution the ministers in Connecticut saw a drop in attendance to mass. They feared that society would shift from the traditional hierarchy to one ran by individualism and egalitarianism.
As a response the ministers and elected officials (The Standing Order) tried to preserve the puritan values of the society. One thing that they did was to orchestrate all schooling to attempt to instill discipline in the society. They also tried to convert local Native Americans in attempts to civilize them.
